Trish Karter Provides Definition of Bench Development
April 13 2007
Bench development is you know, we’ll come up with recipe concepts and you have to try them out and work with the materials and it’s an iterative process and you’re doing it in small batches and then when you get a product developed to a certain level, then you start going into production. So now you’re making 200 pounds of it at a crack to try it out. So you have to do a good job at the bench development level so that you don’t waste a lot of energy when you start putting things into production and it’s also a place where you have a lot of opportunity to tweak recipes and use knowledge.
