Cycling Metaphor #1: Did You Already Know How to Ride?

Trish’s cycling companion, Janet, thought of this while on the long trek from Athens to Augusta: “I’ve been thinking about cycling metaphors. It’s easy to get back on your bike if you already know how to ride.”

In speaking about homelessness, some people fall of their bikes because they were never taught how to ride in the first place. Some people you meet at the shelters you find that they lack the basics and end up falling off the cliff at sometime. Whether the basics are financial management, staying away from abusive situations or how to hang on to a job. The workers at these shelters are the biking instructors who teach them how to get moving. It struck me to see how critical their work is.
