Upon arriving at the Transitional Living Center in Lancaster today, we were greeted by three gentleman who made our stay very special. All three of these men, Ronnie, Doug, and Ron, were staying in the shelter, a converted hotel, on a floor specifically for homeless veterans. Ronnie, the man in the photo, has cancer and can't do what he loves which is to train rodeo horses. Doug, a recovering alcoholic, calls the TLC a miracle. He has been sober for seven months. Ron lives with chronic pain and is about to have another operation to repair the
damage resulting from a broken neck.

Ronnie, Doug and Ron stayed near us throughout our visit, making sure we had everything we needed, helping us find our way and providing suggestions about the best places to grab a bite to eat. Their hospitality was unforgettable. How lucky am I? It isn't every day that three strangers do so much to make me smile.
