The perfect gift is usually unexpected but something you really wanted and didn’t know it. The perfect gift comes form the heart and really shows you that the person giving it knows who you are. For me the perfect gift is spending time with someone i never see - maybe a dinner date or an afternoon lunch or a play or concert tickets with someone. My boyfriend lives far away so if he came home one weekend as a surprise, that would be the perfect gift.

I’m Scott. I work for Dancing Deer. I think the greatest gift is when someone gives me something small. A card, a coffee. A token that says that they were thinking of me.

The perfect gift is one with a lot of thought and consideration for the person the gift is being given to. It does not have to be a big gift, an expensive gift, or something flashy. It should be a gift that was thought about and is something one knows the recipient would appreciate. For instance, one of my very favorite gifts was a coffee mug made out of stoneware I always wanted. The giver knew I had admired this particular mug, and unexpectedly, I received it one Christmas. It made my day and I still use that mug to this day. I also love getting homemade gifts from my nephews. My three year old nephew made me a painting and I framed it and kept it. He had told his mommy, unsolicited, that “I want to paint something for auntie,” and just that he wanted to do something special for me made me happy. I love that little painting.

The perfect gift is unexpected, a gift that surprises and delights. Or maybe it’s one that just shows you (the gift-giver) really are listening—you understand what the person cares about or is very interested in right now. The perfect gift is often, but not necesarily, handmade. The perfect gift really ain’t about the money.
