Message: Graham Hill (@ghill on Twitter) is the founder of Tree Hugger . Graham is a serial entrepreneur. Check out the video below, where Graham tells musician Ben Harper that his focus is on pushing sustainability from the back burner to the forefront of focus within the environmental conversation. Then, we ask Graham a few questions of our own! Susty.tvĀ» Green Deets with Ben Harper 04 from susty.tv on Vimeo. DD: Dancing Deer blog readers are a community of doers. They are a group of people who believe that they can truly make a difference in the lives of others in their community - but sometimes it takes a long time to affect lasting change. What do you do to keep motivated in those times when progress seems slow? Graham: In terms of Tree Hugger and Planet Green, I think we are lucky in terms of motivation. With over 4M unique visitors a month, there is enough stuff going on that we get fed by the good stories we hear of individuals we’ve inspired, small businesses we’ve helped and big companies that seem to care what we think. It’s definitely a challenge regardless…the more you read, the more depressing the situation seems to be. We are up against a problem of planetary scale that goes against our very nature. And human behavior is very difficult to change. Lots of hands make light work though! DD: What’s a quick, pro- natural environment tip that you could offer our readers? Graham: The climate crisis is largely an energy problem. So if you want to help, focus on reducing your energy use and using renewables. A very easy, not too expensive and hi impact move is to buy green power for your home and ideally your business. You can get it in almost every state and if not, renewable energy credits are available. And it’ll take you 20 minutes. Making this move at home will cut 1-12 tons per year depending on the state you live in. http://blog.dancingdeer.com/index.php/554/
