The Sweet Home Project
The golden rule is our essential ingredient, and the Sweet Home Project is our philanthropy to help end family homelessness. In 2001, Dancing Deer launched the The Sweet Home Project in partnership with the Boston-based nonprofit, One Family, Inc. Through the project, 35% of the retail price of Sweet Home goodies and gifts are donated to the One Family Scholars Program, which provides college scholarships for homeless mothers as a pathway out of poverty to economic self sufficiency. This program works! Not one of the mothers who has graduated from the program has ever returned to a shelter. We work hard each year to ensure that as our business grows so does our generosity. Since the launch of the project, Dancing Deer has donated $200,000 to the One Family Scholars Program.
Make a charitable donation directly to One Family’s Scholars Program
To date, the Scholars program has provided scholarships to formerly homeless and at risk mothers in Massachusetts. Given the success of this program, One Family Inc. is launching this initiative nationally. During the Ride, all online direct donations and proceeds from the Sweet Home line will be put into a One Family Restricted Fund to support this effort and help build and fund Scholars programs outside Massachusetts.
